Travel is Occasional. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain required car insurance.
Hours worked may include extended hours and/or weekends.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education and Experience required at this level consists of a master’s degree and five years of professional experience;
- A bachelor’s degree and six years of professional experience;
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of professional level experience in the above listed areas for each year of the required education.
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinates, plans and manages the legislative activities of the agency; analyzes, monitors and reports on legislative initiatives that affect the agency’s programs and/or policies.
- Provides effective consultation to agency executive staff in defining and implementing legislative strategies.
- Attends and actively participates in legislative committee meetings as assigned.
- Research, monitor, understand, analyze and track state and federal legislative initiatives that could impact the agency.
- Keep internal staff and stakeholders apprised of any related legislative activity, movement or amendments by preparing briefings, memos, testimony and correspondence.
- Assist agency management and general counsel in drafting legislation and administrative rules that are legally sound and beneficial to the agency.
- Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with legislators, legislative staff, stakeholders, partner organizations and other officials to communicate agency views and input on legislation, rules, policies and programs and foster a positive agency image.
- Attend relevant legislative committee meetings and interim study committees, as well as other meetings with legislators, legislative staff and other officials upon request; help prepare the Director or other staff for those events and assist with follow up as needed.
- Coordinate development of fiscal impact statements for proposed legislative bills as well as manage legislative referrals and responses
- Assist with identifying future planning needs, and make recommendations to agency leadership accordingly.
